Workshops

We love what we do here at Pickle and Ginger and are passionate about passing it on to others.  So many people arrive saying 'I am not at all creative' but you will amazed at what can be achieved and created with a little guidance and a lot of fun.  No experience is necessary to attend any of our workshops, we will provide all you need, along with a warm cuppa and a homemade cake.

If you are looking to celebrate with friends, have a get together or just fancy trying something new, we offer the perfect place here in our studios at Pickle and Ginger.

Our workshops are in lino printing, drypoint etching and beginners' silver clay jewellery.  Please see below for details and do not hesitate to contact us for dates and availability.  We also offer bespoke Hen Party workshops, please see our Hen Parties page.

We run full and half days and there is always room to adapt these to suit your occasion and needs. We run events for 4 to 6 people but if your needs are outside this please do contact us to discuss as we will do our very best to accommodate you.  (Due to Covid-19 we are only currently offering limited workshops for family groups only of up to 4 people and unfortunately are not able to offer homemade cakes at this time) Thank you.

Lino Print/Drypoint Etching Workshop 10.30am to 3pm. £45  includes all materials and prints made. Suitable for beginners. Tea/coffee/cake provided. Please bring your own lunch (hot water and microwave available)

The day begins with discussion, over tea or coffee, on what you want to achieve, the styles and subject material you like.  We have a short session gathering, copying ideas and designing your lino cut.  We are then ready to begin.  Firstly you will have a small sample of lino and, under instruction, you will master the technique of cutting.  Then you will start on your design.  Mid morning we will stop to refuel with coffee/tea and some delicious homemade cake.  We will continue until we are ready for some test prints. With a stop for lunch there is then time for adjustments to the design until you are ready to make your final print which once dry will be mounted.  Your masterpiece is now ready to take home!

During the day you will learn about the properties of silver clay and the ways in which it can be used to make jewellery.  You will then design the jewellery you wish to produce, we have a wealth inspiration and resources available outside and in the studio. You will work the clay into your designed charms, these will be left to dry while we have tea/coffee and cake. Once dry each charm will be fired and you begin the process of polishing and finishing with your desired effect.  After lunch there is time to continue with your charms and with full tuition you will learn how to make accompanying decorative pins using beads, semi precious stones and other various up-cycled items. You will finish the day by bringing all the elements together into one amazing piece of Jewellery.
